What You Will Do:

Pratt & Whitney, a worldwide leader in jet engines, is looking for a dedicated individual to lead  Deployments of Model Based Manufacturing and Inspection technologies, policies and procedures within our manufacturing centers.  This role reports to the Manager, Model Based Deployment, and is a part of the Manufacturing Engineering function within Pratt & Whitney’s Operational Excellence organization.  Model Based - Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection (MD-DMI) is one Pratt & Whitney’s Model Based Enterprise (MBE) pillar projects focused on the advancement of digital tools to create a collaborative model-based process design ecosystem to enable improvements in process development speed and effectiveness.

In this role, you will have responsibility to drive implementation of Model Based Manufacturing and Inspection across Pratt & Whitney’s internal operations. Model Based-Design Manufacturing & Inspection (MB-DMI) is a company-wide initiative to augment 3D models with formats that enable automated consumption in manufacturing business processes such as:  NC programming, Tool Design, Work Instruction authoring, Inspection Programming, First Article Inspection, Process Capability Analysis monitoring & reporting, Physics based modeling, Material Review Board (MRB) for discrepant material.  This effort is focused on turning this vision into reality and deploying the capability.      

Responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the Voice of the Customer and identify the unique needs of the various manufacturing centers in preparation for the transition to Model Based Enterprise.
  • Create deployment plans that are visible to all using a combination of tools including JIRA, VISIO and other tool sets as necessary.
  • Executing on the deployment plan in an Agile manner with a focus on easing the transition for the manufacturing sites, accountability for deliverables and meeting timelines.
  • Support Model Based Definition with actionable customer feedback to help improve the quality of the PW technical data package.
  • Generate and execute short to medium range MB-DMI plans providing significant impact to the organizations.
  • Be able to efficiently communicate and influence difficult and unique objectives within and outside of the organization up to an including the executive levels of management.
  • Establish training plans and work with discipline owners to support  internal/external teams on MB-DMI tools and standard procedures.
  • Develop metrics to monitor and report on health of transformation progress at all levels of the process.
  • Leverage CORE continuous improvement tools to define and improve business process within Core OpX & Module Center deployment businesses.
  • Create site deployment standard work resulting into a playbook for operations to execute MB-DMI readiness
  • Lead and contribute to deployment level passports for business alignment on requirements and operational readiness

The successful candidate will have strong leadership, communication skills (both verbal and written), be self-motivated, persistent, and focus on results. They must be able to multi-task and be able to work through roadblocks, raising issues and identifying solutions to ensure tasks are driven to completion.  These skills are essential for collaborating with all the organizations that comprise the MB-DMI team (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Digital Technologies (DT), PW MRO, PWC, RTX, software developers, suppliers, etc.) and integrating the requirements for the Operations organization. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Preferred BS Engineering (technical degree and relevant experience considered)
  • 10+ years of experience (Manufacturing Engineering, Ops, Engineering Design, Supply Chain, Project Mgmt, Quality or equivalent)
  • 10+ years Design and/or Manufacturing experience using CAD, CAM, CAI or other engineering software.  
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software packages (Teamcenter)
  • Experience with creating CAD models, Bills of Material and managing the Lifecycle of those items.
  • Technical proficiency in Complex Manufacturing activities.
  • Experience with executing against routings or bills of process and managing deviations against those routings.
  • Excellent knowledge of productivity software including O365, JIRA, Smartsheets, etc. 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with Teamcenter, NX, CAM, CMM programming.
  • Exposure to MES systems such as Solumina and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of ASME Y 14.5-1994 and ASME Y 14.5-2018.
  • Knowledge of Model Based activities within a manufacturing environment.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
