Job Description SummaryThe Product Line Lean Leader is responsible for transforming GE’s results through the application of GE’s lean principles. Specifically, this role will work closely as a partner with the Defense and Systems (D&S) Product Lines, driving both a change in operating mindset and ensuring Lean principles are applied effectively in support of operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and strategic Targets to Improve (TTIs). This leader will work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Engineering and Productivity teams implementing practices and principles that promote and enable GE’s lean transformation in support of our true north metrics (S,Q,D,C).

Job Description

The Product Line Lean Leader will serve as a facilitator, educator, and advocate to the D&S product line teams to drive the understanding and application of Lean principles and tools. This will be accomplished through:  

  • Partnering with Product Line and Cost leaders to prioritize and solve problems based on voice of the customer related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost;
  • Establishing a kaizen event rhythm within the Product Lines  and leveraging that activity to develop lean proficiency for D&S employees; 
  • Coaching the Daily Management process including daily management meetings, Genba walks and Kata coaching cycles;
  • Deliver step-change performance improvement through the execution of Hoshin Kanri improvement priorities and action planning;
  • Working with colleagues to quickly deploy new, best-practice capability and processes within D&S.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college 
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in lean implementation / transformation


Desired Characteristics and Experience: 

  • Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching core tools such as Daily Management, structured Problem Solving, and Standard Work. 
  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – able to influence without direct authority
  • Experience delivering Hoshin Kanri (HK) breakthrough objectives
  • Change agent, able to make the case for lean and demonstrate immediate impact
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn 
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively 
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, delivers impact

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
