Job Description SummaryThe Large Military Engineering (LME) Lean Process Improvement Leader will lead and execute strategies to improve the effectiveness of the Engineering function by successful management and implementation of continuous improvement projects and initiatives across the LME organization. Partner with technical and organizational leaders to identify, develop, and execute projects/process improvements to ensure on time delivery, increase productivity, and develop new strategies for engineering design and sustaining support. Partner with Edison Works Lean Leader to drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives within LME organization. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the LME organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the entire team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies, and interprets internal and external business challenges to recommend best practices to improve products and processes. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with design and systems teams to improve engineering processes, team productivity, and daily management
  • Facilitate LME Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and KPIs
  • Guide and coach team in use of lean tools, including action plans, PSRs, value stream mapping, standard work, etc.
  • Facilitate development and execution of process improvement projects and initiatives, including methods, tools, and deployment
  • Communicate lean and process improvement strategies, risks and recommendations to senior leaders, direct organization and cross-functional partner organizations
  • Partner with the organizations staff members to enable program execution on-time and on-budget
  • Collaborate across product lines to drive synergies in process improvements
  • Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of process improvement experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality or other areas with transactional processes.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons.
