The role:
Senior Manager - Cargo Operations
As the Senior Manager, Cargo Operations you will be at the forefront of driving operational quality through IAG Cargo’s biggest hub at London Heathrow. In this dynamic, shift-based role you will lead a large operational team and collaborate with senior management teams and external stakeholders to represent IAG Cargo and protect operational performance.
What you’ll do:
- Accountable for the safety and security of the IAG Cargo operation.
- Senior leader on shift of circa 400 colleagues across Ascentis, Premia, Airside, Planning, Customer Data and Retail as well as areas such as Mail, Secure and CAST.
- Directly manage on shift a team of at least 5 on shift managers.
- Directly accountable for the on the day operational performance, influencing a number of metrics to ultimately deliver the most optimal Flown as Booked performance.
- Most senior point of escalation for on the day operational decision making. The Senior Manager, Cargo Operations will be accountable for making decisions that maximise revenue and protect operational performance.
- Responsible for activation of plans to mitigate disruptions including BCPs, taking accountability for on-shift incident management, and communication to senior leadership teams across IAG Cargo including the Cargo Executive Team.
- Responsible for activating and/or chairing the IAG Cargo Crisis Management Team as required and will be the accountable operational decision maker in response to any British Airways Crisis Management Team activation.
- Challenge decisions made by external stakeholders to ensure IAG Cargo’s operation is protected.
- Main point of contact for airline operating companies on the day including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and other airlines outside of the IAG group. Accountable operational point of contact for all external stakeholders.
- Use data to inform proactive and strategic decision making and effectively communicate across the wider operation.
- Management of a large team of industrialised colleagues on different contract types and working arrangements.
- Provide coaching, development, and leadership to the operational management team.

Your experience:
- Proven experience managing teams in an operational and industrialised environment.
- Experience of people management in a change driven environment.
- Able to hold an airside pass.
- Excellent internal and external stakeholder management.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance conflicting demands between commercial and operational requirements.
- Proven experience in managing, coaching, and leading teams.
