About the role:
This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial support to MATAR management. Key duties include conducting detailed financial analysis, formulating optimal investment strategies for new business acquisitions, providing insightful management information, and ensuring adherence to Group Accounting Policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop financial strategy for integration of business acquisitions into HIA.
- Manage, capture and integrate spanet intelligence into strategic planning, ensuring appropriate focus on delivering competitive advantage.
- Leading investment analysis, supporting line management in creating robust business cases including cash flow, P&L and balance sheet impacts.
- Financial analysis to include cost of investment and potential financing scenarios, realistic revenue/cost assumptions, manpower impact, sensitivity analysis, generation of EVA metrics including IRR, NPV and payback analysis and highlighting any risks and opportunities associated with any projects.
- Ensure that detailed analysis is undertaken to support the broader investment strategy, highlighting opportunities for taking advantage of any potential synergies.
- Strategic Business Units and opportunity for divestment, provide support to the HIA management by including SWOT and PESTLE analysis.
- Responsible for the optimum capital structure for investments, provide options for servicing debt and/or payment of dividends to facilitate the movement of funds between geographies and entities.
- Providing analytical support to cover varying levels of complexity for investment decisions (hotel, property and aviation related), project management and post investment analysis, all of these to be delivered within agreed timescales.
- Accountable for managing due diligence exercises (valuation, financial, tax, technical) on projects, and provide insights into costs, schedules, risks, and plans, in order to recommend/support HIAs commercial decisions.
- Manage HIAs Contract management from finance perspective and take responsibility for financial clauses and outcomes.
- Oversee the filing of statutory records in local and overseas locations, i.e., Statutory Accounts, Annual Returns, Corporation Tax and VAT Returns.
- Ensure all Finance-related invoices are reviewed, approved, and paid, with ongoing tracking, reporting, and escalation.
- Ensure regular monitoring and optimal investment of owners account balances.
- Manage the application of Group Financial Policies and the accounting for the business in accordance with IFRS.
- Portfolio/Program Management - ensure portfolio of projects is managed in line with agreed timelines and delivering agreed benefits. Regular review of existing projects is a critical element with any risks and opportunity being highlighted as the project is delivered and ensuring corrective action is taken to bring the project back in line with approved benefits.
- Responsible for ensuring that all tax, insurance, legal, and statutory requirements are met.
- Financial Control - ensure that confidentiality is retained and that appropriate stakeholders are informed and consulted and that relevant approvals are sought and gained via agreed HIA approval processes prior to any financial commitment. Additionally, ensure that any intragroup agreements are signed and fully understood prior to financial commitment.
- Review current practices to ensure effective financial control incorporated into target areas and/or feasibility reviews of proposed business operating plans to ensure achieving financial objectives.
- Preparation of management documents, presentations, summaries, reporting.
- Take responsibility for overall management and delivery of the annual budgets and align with Senior Management to develop a strategic five-year plan.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of the monthly reporting and variance for all relevant divisions, ensuring that actions agreed with line areas to mitigate major variances to keep on target.
- Assess options for coordinating the activities, policies, procedures, and systems so as to promote common policies and practices to minimize the risk to the company.
- To present an objective view of the financial situation and provide sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to achieve the business goals and objectives.
- Incorporate forecast planning into the organization and ensure provisions are made for major risk and opportunities defined from the course of normal operations.
- Introduce a way of thinking culture that encourages teams to recommend projects to first consider their value, risks and relative priority as a fundamental element of submitting the project proposal.
- Initiate and evaluate key productivity drivers in the areas and ensure full traction is provided for any areas of improvement.
- Responsible to lead the units strategic business drivers to determine investment allocation, creating comprehensive and highly structured Business Cases for proposed projects, ascertaining investment cost and benefits to scope, dependencies, risk and its alignment to strategic objectives.
- Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
