Responsibilities
- Drive a proactive external media strategy, ensuring GE Aerospace’s key messages are strategically delivered to support positive sentiment and exposure.
- Translate complex technical material for non-technical audiences, especially as it relates to regulatory matters, certification, airworthiness directives and service bulletins.
- Build and deepen relationships with key aerospace reporters as well as with non-traditional outlets, business and international media to drive proactive storytelling.
- Develop relationships with media teams for our commercial airframe partners, and build and maintain key comms contacts for our commercial airline customers.
- Create written communications including press releases, Q&As, position papers, pitches, and preparing subject-matter experts and other leaders for media interviews.
- Defend the GE Aerospace brand by collaborating with the crisis response team to develop communications plans to address reputational threats and to effectively respond to crisis situations involving our products, facilities or personnel
- Collaborate across the Communications Team and other key internal stakeholders including Government Relations, Investor Relations, Global Sales & Marketing, Legal, and Public Affairs to build 360-degree communications plans and maximize reach and impact for GE Commercial engines storytelling, including aligning communications to support international opportunities
- Collaborate closely with digital communications team on creative storytelling for GE Aerospace’s social media channels to build awareness for the company’s technology, innovation, and team.
- Provide strategic communications counsel to leaders; prepare leaders for media interviews and engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of media relations or other communications experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Adept at building relationships with reporters and other stakeholders.
- Strong writing skills, including demonstrated ability to translate highly technical material for a variety of non-technical audiences in both traditional and non-traditional media.
- Ability to create sticky content for social media platforms that drives engagement and expands the audience.
- Experience communicating with global media (trade, general media, and non-traditional outlets).
- Experience coaching executives for media interviews and other external engagement.
- Strong crisis management experience and the ability to perform under pressure.
- At least 10 years of experience in media relations and/or journalism
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Willingness to be on call 24/7 for product crises.
Pay Disclosure
• The salary range for this position is ($149,900, $198,800, $248,400) . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
