Northrop Grumman Mission Systems and the Life Cycle Sustainment Organization (LCSO) is seeking a Senior Test Technician to join the E3 AWACS Test and Repair Team at our Troy Hill Operations site located in Elkridge, MD.
The position will require frequent travel to customer sites across the US.
What you’ll get to do:
Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements in accordance with customer specifications
Install, calibrate, and maintain electronic communication equipment at various customer sites
Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems remotely and in a field environment and makes recommendations for corrective action
Communicates with internal and external customers, Program Managers, and executives
Construct, test, operate, analyze, and modify complex systems
Aids in the creation and modification of technical publications and procedures
Plan, layout, develop and construct experimental and prototype devices and test equipment working with very general incomplete information
Perform tests and measurements on complex devices, assemblies, and systems
Perform initial procedural tests on new and/or changed equipment, make modifications as required, record and analyze data, and supply reports and test specifications
Troubleshoot complete, complex systems and/or complete test set-ups to locate and repair defective areas
Work, test, and troubleshoot on high voltage systems up to 100K volts.
Recommend empirical design changes on components, units, and systems
Accurately identify operational problems, difficulties and deficiencies and suggest operational changes to improve timeliness, efficiency, and performance
Demonstrate proper techniques for testing, modifying, and maintaining assigned equipment
Develop methods and techniques for effectively monitoring various tests on a systems level
Determine what effect engineering changes will have on the total system and initiate action necessary to ensure compatibility.
Provide information, guidance, training and direction to lower classified personnel, and internal/ external customers.
Make design change recommendations to improve producibility and maintainability.
Provide Program Office and management with status reports showing percent complete and estimated completion dates
Work with Management in quoting new and follow-on work using experience and knowledge of repair and testing processes
Work from various forms of documentation such as engineering drawings, sketches, and engineering change notes, and frequently from verbal information
Check work for compliance to drawing specifications and configurations periodically during the assembly process
Analyze and evaluate electronic assembly operations utilizing knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Make recommendations to program and management personnel for process improvements.
Work with engineers on design problems in developing units and in making design changes which will improve performance of unit
Perform complete mechanical assembly of various basic units and assemblies to established procedures
Support maintaining the test equipment by repairing or making interfaces to test units for repair. This can include soldering.
Basic Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a STEM field plus 6 years of electronic/technical experience, OR military experience plus 8+ years of electronic/technical experience
Formal training in electrical systems testing, repair and maintenance.
Test and troubleshoot RF systems and or Radar systems
Prior experience working with electronic and computer principles and techniques
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with no suspensions or restrictions
Experience with wiring, assemble and test LRUs and SRUs
Read engineering drawings and schematics
Troubleshoot down to the component level
Carry out tasks with limited resources, documentation, or engineering support
Repair or modify test equipment to test the incoming repairs.
Perform basic soldering
Ability to physically perform essential functions including lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, balancing, walking, and standing
Ability to lift, carry, move, and use equipment up to 50lbs
Use a variety of hand tools including crimpers and strippers
Working knowledge of computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Candidate must currently have, and be able to maintain an Active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field
Military leadership experience
Experience with SAP and GOLD
Active U.S. Secret level Security Clearance
Experience working with the FAA, DoD or other government agency

Salary Range: $52,673 - $128,172
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
