The Senior Strategic Planning Manager will play a critical role in shaping the long‑term growth, competitive positioning, and strategic priorities of Honeywell Aerospace. This role sits at the intersection of spanet intelligence, competitive strategy, strategic program management, and brand advocacy, and works closely with cross‑functional leadership to drive informed decision‑making and execution of high‑impact strategic initiatives.
The role requires strong external orientation, structured problem‑solving, executive‑level communication, and the ability to translate strategy into action across a complex, global aerospace and defense ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. External Market & Industry Intelligence
- Monitor and synthesize global aerospace and defense spanet trends, including commercial aviation, defense, space, and advanced air mobility.
- Track and assess policy developments, regulatory changes, geopolitical dynamics, and macroeconomic factors impacting the aerospace industry.
- Develop regular executive‑level insights on spanet size, growth drivers, technology shifts, and emerging risks/opportunities.
- Serve as a trusted internal source of external intelligence to support leadership decision‑making.
2. Competitive, Ecosystem & Investment Intelligence
- Track and analyze competitors, peers, customers, startups, and supply‑chain ecosystem players across aerospace and adjacent industries.
- Identify disruptive technologies, new business models, and emerging entrants that could impact Honeywell Aerospace’s strategic position.
- Partner with Corporate Strategy, Business Development, and Ventures teams to identify and assess potential investment, partnership, and M&A opportunities.
- Build structured competitive intelligence frameworks and maintain ongoing spanet/competitive dashboards.
3. Strategic Programs & Special Projects
- Program‑manage high‑priority strategic initiatives and strategic bets sponsored by senior leadership.
- Lead business case development, including spanet assessment, financial modeling, risk analysis, and strategic rationale.
- Drive go / no‑go decision processes with leadership and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Support execution post‑approval, tracking milestones, risks, and value realization.
4. Brand Advocacy & Thought Leadership
- Develop and execute initiatives to strengthen Honeywell Aerospace’s brand positioning in the industry.
- Drive thought leadership, industry events, executive forums, CSR initiatives, and external engagements to enhance brand visibility and credibility.
- Partner with Marketing, Communications, and External Affairs teams to ensure consistent and differentiated messaging aligned with strategic priorities.
- Represent Honeywell Aerospace in select industry forums, conferences, and ecosystem discussions.
5. Annual Strategic Planning Support
- Support the annual strategic planning process in close collaboration with cross‑functional and business leadership.
- Coordinate inputs across functions, including spanet outlooks, portfolio priorities, investment themes, and growth initiatives.
- Help translate strategy into clear priorities, metrics, and execution roadmaps.
- Prepare high‑quality executive presentations and materials for senior leadership reviews.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Must‑Have Requirements
- 2+ years of Strategy Consulting experience at a top‑tier firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG).
- 10+ years of experience in Engineering, Operations, Product Management, or related roles within Energy, Industrial, Aerospace or Defense companies
- Strong experience working in complex, global, matrixed organizations.
Preferred / Added Advantage
- Prior experience in Corporate Strategy or Business Development roles within large Industrial or Aerospace MNCs.
- Exposure to investment evaluation, partnerships, or venture initiatives.
- Familiarity with aerospace certification, regulatory environments, or defense programs.
