Job Objective

The Drug & Alcohol Program Compliance Coordinator is responsible to assist the Designated Employer Representative (DER) with meeting compliance of the Anti-Drug and Alcohol program per the company and federal and state regulations.


Essential Functions

DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol Program

  • Provide support to ensure compliance with CFR 49 Part 40 and CFR 14 Part 120 regarding DOT/FAA Drug and Alcohol testing procedures and policies
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact with FAA Drug Abatement for FAA inspections and with FAA Office of Special Investigations concerning any violations of DOT policies
  • Assist with coordination of DOT-FAA drug and alcohol testing for all safety-sensitive employees per company drug and alcohol testing program requirements (Including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return to duty, and follow-up testing)
  • Support the DER in managing current random pools for the company, including new hires, terminations, and leave of absence, as directed
  • Coordinate with collection centers for all company bases across the country. Ensures facilities are available for DOT drug and alcohol screening and follow DOT-FAA regulations as outlined in CFR 49.40
  • Audit to ensure pre-employment drug tests and random drug and alcohol collections are completed within the allowed time frame for compliance and forms are complete and legible for inspection, as directed
  • Ensure training completion certificates for employees are stored on file for FAA audits
  • Serve as a backup and/or secondary point of contact for all post-accident and reasonable suspicion/cause testing

Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Program

  • Assist in all aspects of the Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program, according to current policy
  • 5-year Drug and Alcohol Record Check
  • Review FAA Pilot Record Database (PRD) for Drug and Alcohol records
  • For incoming new hire pilots - submit a request to Metro’s third-party vendor and ensure drug and alcohol records are obtained and reviewed and report derogatory findings
  • For separated pilots – receive, review, and evaluate all incoming drug & alcohol requests from other operators and ensure compliance with FAA guidelines
  • Provide resources or data, as requested, to the Director of Human Resources
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of DOT-FAA regulations for drug and alcohol (CFR 49 Part 40 and CFR Part 120) and the Pilot Records Improvement Act of 1996 (PRIA)
  • Must be able to interpret and apply laws and regulations as written in the Federal and the above reference regulations
  • Ability to interact discreetly with internal and external customers
  • Exemplary customer service, emotional intelligence, and communication skills
  • Prioritize to manage time and projects effectively and efficiently
  • Extreme focus on accuracy and timeliness in a high-volume atmosphere
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Previous office experience
  • Aviation experience is a plus

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times

Work Environment

  • Temperature-controlled office
  • Exposure to outdoor shops with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures and loud noises

Work Status, Schedule, & Travel

  • Full-time
  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week (on-call/rotation)
  • No travel required
