This position is within the FAA, Aviation Safety (AVS), Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI), Program Management Staff, AAM-006. The Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety.



Duties


Applies experience and advanced knowledge applicable to plan and accomplish assignments of video production including consultation, direction, editing, script writing, camera operations, set lighting, and video electronic graphics; audio/visual (A/V) projects encompassing print design to visual/video production that includes the use of animation and real life taping/recording; operates, modifies, and maintains digital recording, and analog video equipment.

Performs duties under the limited direction of the Program Management Staff Manager. The Digital Content Producer is a major contributor on large work activities related to mission activities across the CAMI, AAM, and the office within AVS.

Based on the knowledge of audience and/or delivery content; provides guidance on the use of operating multiple A/V systems to include AMX Control Systems, microphones, public address, and a variety of computer operating systems, editing software, and presenter presentation techniques.

Assists the Senior Digital Content Producer in determining A/V needs and interacts with internal and external customers to plan, design, and carry out programs and projects which are typically large-scale. Also assists to produce presentations on various aerospace medicine and human factors research projects for presentation to a wide variety of audiences worldwide and for research staff for presentation to professional organizations. Works independently, quickly, and effectively in the production of numerous types of A/V products to support medical education (National AAM Program), Medical Certification (National AAM Program), research projects, the CAMI Clinic, and other divisions within AAM, including the AAM Headquarters in Washington, DC. Provides guidance and assists in determining the appropriate technology to use regarding computer graphics and animation technology, integrated multimedia systems, video productions, website graphics, audio streaming, video streaming, or any new technologies.

Assists in coordinating projects, of both national programs, with managers, physicians, and others in developing and implementing distance learning modules to reach broader audiences.

Prepares, operates, modifies, and maintains digital recording and analog video equipment. Provides video coverage and photography of events, such as training classes in unique locations and venues, presentations, or scientific experiments, including audio and video production with editing capability to a master format for distribution for archiving purposes. Develops and presents presentations to promote the mission of the FAA, CAMI and the division using in-house expertise in digitized voice and visual software/hardware.

Provides A/V support, operations for, and maintains large format High Definition technical equipment of the CAMI Auditorium. Provides one-on-one support to CAMI divisions and Aeronautical Center personnel on large screen displays, video conferencing, and use of equipment for presentation.

Duplicates, converts, and prepares film, videotape, slides, photos, artwork, and text for mastering in digitized format. Digitizes paper and photo documents from autopsy cases, toxicology cases, and related documents to store in a computerized format for researchers. Scans autopsies on CD for long-term storage and use.

Archives existing videotape, film and digital media in an organized retrievable permanent format. Maintains current equipment and identifies new capture formats usable with existing digital editing systems. Identifies upgrades for existing digital equipment, computer hardware and software.

Assists with Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) Education Committee in graphics design. Provides graphics support to AAM awards program.

Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-H (FG/GS 12) level, you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to FV-G (FG/GS 10/11) level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience in video production, consultation, direction, editing, script writing, camera operations, set lighting, and video electronic graphics; audio/visual (A/V) projects encompassing print design to visual/video production including the use of animation and real life taping/recording; operating, modifying, and maintaining digital recording and analog video equipment; digitizing paper and photo documents for archiving.
