GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, operates various types grinding machines to remove parting lines, fins, snags, gates, risers, and other undesirable metal from castings in accordance with quality standards. Ensures that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.
OBJECTIVE:
To set up and operate various grinding machines to remove any metal necessary to meet visual and dimensional specifications on technique cards.

• Must be able to determine if a grinding belt, after extended use, is still serviceable for other shop numbers or machine grinding operations.
• Must pass a practical test which consists of at least the following steps:
o Read and interpret department paperwork instructions.
o Recognize over/under size parts before grinding.
o Grind parts to specified dimensions.
o Complete steps a, b and c in a time frame acceptable as a production rate.
