Under general supervision install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. to include troubleshooting system issues, replacing faulty components, and ensuring that systems are operating efficiently and safely. HVAC technician must perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning (replacing filters & washing coils), as well as testing system performance and functionality. Must be knowledgeable about electrical systems, building control systems, refrigeration systems (direct and indirect expansion), as well as be able to read blueprints and schematics. practice good communication skills and customer service.

**1st Shift – 7:30am – 4:00pm – Portsmouth, RI. This position is an onsite role.**

What you will do:

  • Install HVAC systems according to specifications and local codes

  • Test and troubleshoot HVAC systems to diagnose and repair problems

  • Replace faulty parts and components as needed

  • Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely

  • Document work performed and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance

  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to ensure proper installation and repair of HVAC systems

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment, such as multimeters, refrigerant recovery machines, and vacuum pumps

  • Communicate with clients to explain technical issues and recommend solutions

  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment

  • Keep up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in HVAC systems and technology.

  • Machines, Tools, and Equipment used, includes but not limited to: Vacuum pump, refrigerant recovery machine, multimeter, and manifold gauge, other tools include pipe cutters, tube benders, flaring tools, brazing torches, ductwork tools, and power tools. Electric drills, bench drills, bench grinder, soldering equipment, water treatment chemicals, measuring equipment such as thermometer, vacuum and pressure gages, multimeter, tachometer, air flow meter and psychrometer, pipe threading and flaring tools, ladder, chain falls, wheel puller, leak detectors, reamers, and miscellaneous hand tools common to the trade, and simple welding equipment. The specific tools required may vary depending on the type of HVAC system being worked on.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • Current Refrigeration Journeyperson II RJ2)

  • Current Universal EPA Certifications per CFR part 82 subpart F

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
