Job Summary:
The Industrial Designer will serve as the focal point for all aspects of industrial design and style expertise for the design and manufacturing teams of the Little Rock completion center. Will be the link between the Little Rock Completion Center and the team in charge of the Industrial Design of current and new cabin layout projects at Dassault Aviation in St. Cloud, France
Principal Duties:
Serve as focal point for all aspects of industrial design/style expertise for design and manufacturing teams of the completion center
Follow different phases of development, from creative phase of sketching/ideation to technical phase of industrialization and implementation of projects in production line
Have good understanding of "the DNA of a brand in terms of customer perception
Ensure consistent application of design/style guidelines defined for each project
Participate in design/development from customer-oriented position
Understand/adapt to industrial (production/manufacturing) constraints
Help find solutions to raise level of perceived quality of products
Propose adjustments based on difficulties encountered
Provide feedback to immediate supervisor and primary Specification and Design team when necessary to meet project deadlines
On a weekly basis provide summary of weekly actions to immediate supervisor and Industrial Design team leader in St. Cloud, France
Non-Principal Duties:
Attend/participate in Interior Finishing Spec Reviews (IFSRs)
Attend/participate in Initial Spec Reviews (ISRs)
Support customer visits answering design related questions
Participate in facility related industrial design activities
Occasional luncheons/dinners with vendors, customers and/or fellow team members
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Industrial Design/Product Design
Three (3) years of experience with industrial design/product design projects, transportation design field preferred
Ability to sketch at very good level for concept creation and communication of ideas in early project phases
Certified training in computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM, CATIA V5 or equivalent) and in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design) or equivalent to follow up project and iterate development phases
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate skill set in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) or equivalent
Proven knowledge of industrial processes and their impact on style
Ability to pay attention to important details while keeping mastery of big picture
Ability to work on multiple projects
Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish relationships/work in a team environment
Excels at problem solving and creative collaboration with other team members
Works successfully within strict project deadlines
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Knowledgeable in fields of upholstery, woodworking and furniture manufacturing
Interest in aviation/transportation
Good general knowledge of latest design trends in transport design and other design/art fields
Working Conditions:
8:00am - 5:00pm work hours
Typical office requirements, able to lift 15 lbs., some body maneuvering may be required to view design features in aircraft cabin (leaning, kneeling, extending body parts)
90 office environment, 10 manufacturing and production environment
Telephone, personal computer, various mobile communication devices, various mechanical equipment etc.
Domestic and international travel required
