Job Description:

Kia ora!

Air New Zealand are dedicated in our mission of connecting Kiwis to each other and to the world. Our strategy to achieve this is well-defined, and the Operations Support team play a crucial role in its execution. With this in mind, we are now seeking a Navigation Services Officer to join our team.

Reporting to the Navigation Services Manager, you will control the navigation data on board our aircraft and in our flight planning systems. You will help identify opportunities for more efficient use of airspace and identify more efficient navigation opportunities for our fleet. A key part of this role will also be to influence service provider procedures, to minimise delays and costs incurred by airlines.

Challenges here are a given, and they are challenges that get you excited about what lies ahead. We are results focused and reward those who achieve results through hard work and thinking differently. We are an organisation that encourages you to succeed, grow and aspire to your full potential.

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced Aircraft Navigator, Military or Commercial Pilot or Air Traffic Controller, with either an ATP licence or recognised aviation degree with appropriate navigation qualifications. We will also consider applicants with relevant airline operations experience. You will have a minimum of three years operational experience.

What might I be doing now?

  • Youll be working in an area where attention to detail is vitally important
  • Youll be working with complex software systems and youll be adept in using a variety of modern Microsoft productivity applications
  • You wont accept the status quo, youll look for process and policy improvements and be able to articulate this to a wide audience
  • Youll be able to quickly assimilate information from complex systems
  • Youll have a deep understanding of how an airline operates and how the aircraft interacts with the airspace environment
  • Youll be comfortable operating with new tools and developing new processes
  • Youll be able to readily collaborate across cross-functional teams using collaboration tools.

Why would I enjoy this role?

Youll enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders from pilots and flight planners to airspace providers both domestically and internationally. You will maintain the companys suite of flight management system navigation databases and also key navigation components of the flight planning system. We lead the world in fuel efficient flight planning practices, and you will help us to maintain and develop this capability.

If you think you have what it takes to join a team to drive meaningful growth in one of New Zealands leading companies and one of the aviation industrys leading airlines, please get in touch! All applications are to be made online via our Careers website. We cannot receive applications via email.
