SAS is currently in a growth phase, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the company’s development. As a Senior Business Controller, you will be part of a collaborative team of controllers overseeing SAS Ground Handling operations, while holding full responsibility for the overall performance and financial management of Arlanda. You will report to the Head of Business Control Airline Services, while also being part of the SAS Ground Handling Sweden management team (dotted line). In this role, you will act as a business partner and financial lead, collaborating with management to ensure strategic and tactical goals are achieved, while driving cost and/or revenue efficiency initiatives. Your focus will include achieving short-term financial targets (within the budget year) and contributing to projects that enhance long-term competitiveness. You will be responsible for presenting operational results and developments in a clear and concise manner, driving business cases, and managing development and cost-saving programs. As the financial lead for the unit, you will take full responsibility for all financial aspects, ensuring all financial tasks are completed on schedule. You will also be expected to proactively address and resolve financial challenges or escalate them when necessary.
• Provide financial support to the CEO and management team. • Oversee budget and forecasting processes, including analysis and conclusions. • Manage ongoing financial reporting, including performance, budget, and management reports. • Develop and refine KPIs, decision-support tools, and profitability analyses. • Offer business support during negotiations with unions, suppliers, and customers. • Lead and support change projects aimed at improving efficiency. • Enhance reporting systems and tools to facilitate operational follow-up. • Train and support the organization and managers to strengthen financial monitoring and understanding. • Oversee the financial management of the company, which includes approximately 1,300 FTEs and an annual turnover of approximately 1 billion SEK. Finally, identify and drive improvements in internal processes and help develop the business controller function.
To succeed in this role, you need a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and strong analytical skills. More importantly, you need personal drive, proactivity, and the ability to deliver on short notice while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement. You are motivated by working with the organization to drive development forward and strengthen SAS. You should also feel comfortable translating complex matters into clear and actionable insights that can be effectively communicated to various stakeholders. Strong prioritization, attention to detail, and a structured approach are essential. Additionally, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Business Control or a similar role (e.g., Big4 or consulting background). • Experience in stakeholder management and working closely with senior leaders. • Background in a high-paced, operational environment with extensive contact networks. • High integrity and the ability to challenge and stand by your opinions. • A university degree in finance, economics, or a related field (minimum Bachelor’s level). • Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools like PowerBI/Anaplan. • Fluency in a Scandinavian language and English, both written and spoken.
