Summary and Objective  

The Chief Pilot directs operation of flight department of airline pilots.  

Essential functions

  • Conducts indoctrination training for new pilots and refresher training for experienced pilots.   

  • Reviews reports on pilot performance and forwards reports to Federal Aviation Administration.   

  • Discusses operational and personal problems with subordinates to improve morale and efficiency.   

  • Studies technical manuals of airplane and equipment manufacturers and government regulations affecting flight operations to ensure that company training manuals adhere to legal requirements and are adapted to type of aircraft in use.   

  • Represents company in advisory capacity during contract negotiations with pilots’ union. Accompanies flights to observe performance of pilots.   

  • Conducts training classes for flight personnel covering emergency procedures and use of survival equipment.   

  • Directs preparation of flight-crew schedules and assignment of personnel.   

  • May also interview and hire flight personnel.   

  • May also pilot airplane on scheduled flights.   

  • Conducts or supervises all training activities of flight crew personnel.  

  • Advises the Director of Operations regarding the training of flight crew personnel.  

  • Assists the Director of Operations in formulating operations policies, coordinates those policies, and coordinates operations and training.  

  • Ensures that all aircraft are properly equipped for applicable operations.  

  • Disseminates information to all crewmembers pertaining to routes, airports, NOTAMS, NAVAIDS, company policies, and regulations.  

  • Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command.  

  • Establish and lead company operational best practices and safety review panel.  

  • Schedules flight crewmembers, including assigning Pilot-in-Command duties.  

  • Prepares and maintains proficiency records, pilot files, flight schedules, duty time records, reports, and correspondence pertaining to flight operations activities.  

  • Submits all reports regarding flight personnel to the Director of Operations.  

  • Keeps the aircraft copies of this Operations Manual current  

  • Insures that all flight crew personnel are certified and supervised according to the requirements specified in the Federal Aviation Regulations.  

  • Assists the Director of Operation in exercising operational control of flight activities as required by this manual.  

  • The Chief Pilot may delegate functions to other personnel, but the Chief Pilot retains at all times the responsibilities set forth herein.  

  • The Chief Pilot has the authority to officially apply for and receive Parts A, B, C, D, and E of the Operations Specifications.  

  • Twelve-Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP) alternate Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator (AOSC).  

  • Responsible for ensuring Aircraft Flight Manuals are maintained in a current manner.  

  • Conducts Audits of Pilot Training Records.  

  • Conducts Audits of Pilot Duty Records.  

  • Monitors and reviews pilot training programs for effectiveness in the field.  

  • Conducts periodical review of International Training program, manuals, and/or ARINC policies and procedures for FAA/ICAO compliance.  

  • Any other assignments deemed appropriate by the Director of Operations.  

  • Meets the requirements of 14 CFR 119.69(d) and 119.71.

Required education and experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years previous experience as a pilot-in-command in Part 135 operations within the 6 years preceding position. 

  • A minimum of 2,500 hours total flight time and at least 500 hours of multi-engine PIC time in a Part 135 environment.  

  • Must be current in a least one multi-engine turbine aircraft, with documented recurrent training, accomplished within the last 12 months.  

  • Free of any documented flight violations, mishaps or incidents in the past 10 years.  

  • Experience as a check airman is preferred but candidates with significant ME CFI time will be considered.  

  • Current FAA Medical Certificate (2nd Class or higher)  

  • FAA Certificate (Commercial Pilot with Instrument Rating) *ATP required  

Preferred education and experience  

  • Bachelor&39;s degree in aviation or equivalent industry experience
