Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Communicate with management, technical personnel, and subject matter experts to define documentation content and specifications.
- Compose, develop, and revise a various Company manuals and temporary revisions for publication in clear and concise language.
- Perform cross-checks of procedural content across company manuals and interfaces to ensure consistency of procedures and best practices.
- Ensure accurate and correct document index items, i.e., Table of Contents, List of Effective Pages, Indexes, Contents, Links, Cross-References.
- Develop task requirements and specifications, conducting research and preparation to complete moderately complex technical manuals for publication.
- Import, edit, and incorporate graphical designs such as cockpit panels, dials, doors, electrical systems, emergency equipment, and airplane models into manuals for publication.
- Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
- Coordinate policy and procedure changes with departments throughout the company to assure consistency across departments.
- Create electronic files and maintain a history of document changes using the document management system.
- Ensure document content is used and shared across manuals where appropriate.
- Research Code of Federal Regulations to assist with accuracy of references.
- Update Company web page with Publication changes and updates.
- Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Manager of Technical Publications.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.
- Minimum one year of publishing experience.
- Airline or Aviation experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of content management systems and XML.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Database management skills are desirable.
- Proficiency in computer word processing and desktop publications.
- Experience with publishing software including Adobe Acrobat, Frame Maker, InDesign, Acrobat Professional.
- Understanding of the authority and responsibilities of this position.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
